Email|Print

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrived in Switzerland on Jan. 20, 2015 to attend the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos and pay a working visit to Switzerland. In his speech to the forum on 21st Janaury, Li Keqiang responded to international expectations.

The world expects China to be the engine of the international economy. Since the global financial crisis, China has contributed consistently to world economic development. The international community expects that China will continue to perform this role. Li Keqiang took the opportunity to highlight China’s economic development during the Davos Forum to build up the confidence of international community in China’s economy.

The world also looks forward to China’s solutions for the sluggish international economy. The eurozone is likely to fall into deflation. The Swiss National Bank stunned markets by scrapping its three-year peg of 1.20 Swiss francs per euro. Some western countries have imposed sanctions on Russia in response to the Ukraine crisis. The international prices of bulk commodities have fallen sharply. Li Keqiang presented China’s views on the measures required to achieve world economic recovery.

The world expects to share development opportunities with China. China has launched a series of initiatives including the “One Belt One Road” which will offer many such opportunities. During the Davos Forum, China has continually emphasized its willingness to cooperate with other countries.
