County in SW China's Yunnan holds exhibition on Yi embroidery

An exhibition featuring Yi embroidery, an intangible cultural heritage (ICH), was held to promote the inheritance of the ICH during the first Yi embroidery cultural week in Nanhua county, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Yunnan Province. The cultural week lasted from July 10 to 14.

In recent years, Nanhua has actively integrated into the overall development of the prefecture's Yi embroidery industry. The county has blended the ICH with fashion trends, made innovations in traditional embroidering techniques, and designed embroidery patterns with a modern taste, thus turning ordinary embroidered daily necessities into exquisite goods.

Sales of Yi embroidery works in Nanhua reached 34.89 million yuan ($4.87 million) in 2022, an annual increase of over 60 percent.
